The White Hills area in Bendigo is notorious for old mining sediments which turn to soup when wet. The rail track along Bobs St passes right through this area. To help stabilise the alignment DUX CG40/40 was installed as part of track re-ballasting works. The track is mechanically lifted allowing installation of the geogrid, followed by new rail ballast which lifts the track some 250-300mm. CG40/40 is a 40x40kN/m biaxial, polypropylene geogrid combined with a 150gsm non-woven geotextile. The geogrid locks into the ballast providing reinforcement and the geotextile ensures effective separation ensuring the ballast is not fouled by the underlying sediments.
