Another successful project for DUX CG40 combo-grid at Glenroy West PS. On advice from Southern Geosynthetics, the geogrid was installed at subgrade level, rather than within the crushed rock aggregate pavement layers as per the initial geotechnical design. The reinforcing effect of the geogrid is always best utilised by installing the geogrid as low in the pavement as possible. Additionally, the non-woven geotextile of the combo grid provides the critical separation function best at subgrade level, ensuring
the aggregate pavement stays clean of subgrade fines which would weaken the pavement. Contractor APPIA commented that the reinforcing effect of the CG40 was immediately apparent, even with only a thin first lift of aggregate cover, as you can see from the photo. #DUX#geogrid#appia
