We are pleased to welcome Bobby Densa to Southern Geosynthetics. Bobby takes the Technical Sales role and has a wealth of experience in civil and landscape construction and product sales. This week we visited contractor Contek at the Moomba Park Wetlands site to see the installation of DUX SPL40 Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL). The multilayer composite comprises a bentonite clay layer sandwiched between two geotextile layers. Project Manager Simon Milne at Contek proposed a GCL as a cost saving alternative to traditional compacted clay lining.

The thin composite replaces up to 600mm of compacted clay, and with soil disposal costing over $50/cm big savings resulted.

These ponds are specially designed to provide a home for the growling frog and are arranged in series to progressively filter stormwater before disposal into the Merri Creek.#gcl#contek#moomba-parkwetlands#geosynthetics
